During the summer of last year, I was working in a kiosk at the city mall. I saw an older man wearing a shirt that said “Detroit -vs- Everybody.” Knowing that my dude (ya) is proudly from Detroit, I asked the man, “Hey sir, where did you get that shirt?!” He replied, “Oh well in Detroit of course.” I felt silly, but soon after he told me to find it online and order it from the Detroit -vs- Everybody store–and so I did. Although since then, that mall and that website haven’t been the only places I’ve seen the phrase “DETROIT -VS- EVERYBODY.”
In the ‘Try Me’ music video by Dej Loaf, I saw it again. And once more in a random segment on BET.
Now the phrase “Detroit -vs- Everybody” isn’t just a clothing company–it’s a song title.
Catch the newly released music video for ‘Detroit vs. Everybody’ by Eminem, Big Sean, Trick Trick, Danny Brown, Royce da 5’9″, & Dej Loaf. Quite the roster for one song, but a great idea nonetheless for this group of Detroit-raised emcees to rep the city in such a badass way. The video shows Detroit in its essence and realness, showing landmarks and locals from downtown to the neighborhoods. Who kills it the most? Eminem? Danny Brown? …Big Sean? Check it out & let us know what you think!
