Police Seize More Than 100 Pounds of Marijuana in South Idaho Drug Bust

Police seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana on Sunday in a bust that also led to the capture of three people from outside the state.

The Mini-Cassia Drug Task Force was assisted by the Minidoka and Cassia County Sheriff offices and the Rupert Police Department. It’s not clear what led investigators to the trio.

Sou Cha, 32, of Circle Pines, Minn., Doua Chang, 42, of Fresno, Calif., and Cheng Yang, 34, of Manitowoc, Wisc., were arrested and each was charged with conspiracy and trafficking marijuana, according to a statement from Minidoka County Sheriff Eric Snarr.

All three men were booked into jail and a $250,000 bond was set for each.

All told, police seized 102 pounds of marijuana. Snarr said the value of the drugs is $150,000 in bulk form. Bundled for street-level sales, the drugs are worth about $650,000.

Snarr said the investigation is ongoing and declined to provide more details.
