Medical marijuana patients in Maryland who were interested in buying cannabis might be out of luck as 5 of the 10 licensed dispensaries in Maryland are running out of flower & have a limited amount of other cannabis products. The other two dispensaries in Maryland are limiting sales to a small group of preregistered medical marijuana patients. Advocates acknowledged that shortages can be frustrating for patients who have waited nearly five years since the first medical-marijuana legalization bill was signed into law.
Christopher Garrett, who is a spokesman for the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, said that regulators expected initial supply issues and that the dispensaries will work on building up their inventories in the next coming months.
The medical marijuana dispensaries that have not yet opened said they are closely watching the experience of others around them.
Mitch Trellis, an owner of Remedy Colombia in Howard County stated, “You don’t always want to be first. Our business model is to curate the best medicine from across the state and make that available to our patients. We don’t feel there’s enough medicine out there to be able to do that right now.”
