“It’s a very organic stoner show,” Ezone says, of the first season of High and Hungry, which he produced with BRealTV’s Ray Salazar.

Ezone and Ray turned their popular web series into a full-fledged television show, which is now being released weekly on the BRealTV Youtube channel.

The first season comes after four years of the High and Hungry web series, which also ran on BRealTV’s YouTube. The web series began in 2017 and was a weekly review of local Los Angeles food spots, always with a weed vibe.

“As stoners I was like ‘we can get free food!’ That’s really where it started,” Ezone said.

“It turned into something more than I expected.”

“I like to involve the fans in the growth of our project. I feel like this is a community thing, it wouldn’t be anything without you.” -Ezone

Ezone says he was ready to reapproach the show as a pre-filmed 12-episode season, more in line with a traditional television show.

“We’re starting over, but at the same time we’re not. It’s a new chapter,” Ezone said.

He wanted to invest more time into planning each episode, including thoughtfully choosing which spots to review.

“Instead of searching and scrambling for the next place, we actually sat down, had 12 episode brainstorms, and we hit up some of our best food connects,” Ezone said.

He says he is inspired by classic food review show hosts like Guy Fieri and Anthony Bourdain.

“They were curated so well that it became almost timeless,” Ezone said.

“What made it that? These things were created without the pressure of moving like today’s world moves, fast fast fast, and forget about it,” he said.

Instead, for the first season, he located cool indie food trucks, pop ups, and small shops like A’s BBQ, Quarantine Pizza, and Torta Movil, and he and Ray took more time to direct and edit the final episodes.

“I’m seeing the impact of this. I’m seeing the views doing a lot better, the comments become more interactive. I want that to be the build up for me to approach somebody.” -Ezone

Already the new season is getting attention. Ezone’s even considering shopping the show around to a bigger distributor.

“I’m seeing the impact of this. I’m seeing the views doing a lot better, the comments become more interactive. I want that to be the build up for me to approach somebody,” he said.

But for now, he’s happy to build a community around it.

Fans are seeing the payoff after years of supporting the High and Hungry web series. Ezone considers them a part of the show’s process.

“I like to involve the fans in the growth of our project. I feel like this is a community thing, it wouldn’t be anything without you and you wouldn’t have this without us,” Ezone said.

Ultimately those early episodes were what established the show and made Ezone into an expert epicure of Los Angeles cuisine.

“Those are like the guerilla fucking episodes, out there in the field,” Ezone says, of the earlier web series.

“It made me headstrong to keep going at it one-hundred percent,” Ezone said.

Now he’s busy promoting the show, interacting with fans, and getting ready for what’s next.

“We’re already working on season 2. I’ve been able to work on a lot of merch.”

The pace of the new approach to filming the show is a better fit for Ezone overall.

“I’m also able to dedicate more time to my health, where I don’t have to eat that much,” Ezone says.

High & Hungry Season 1: Summer 2022

Here are the episodes that are currently released for the new season. Check them out and check back weekly for more.

1. High & Hungry (Hangaburs) Jun 23, 2022
Ezone says: “Hangaburs is a small business ran by a power couple that makes great smash burgers while also fusing Mexican delights in the mix. They were recently featured on LA Taco. You’ll feel right at home having their food and I say that because we were able to review them as they popped at Sara’s Market, a East Los Angeles local market known for having the essentials for the community as well having items from independent businesses. You don’t see that in Latino neighborhoods and Sara’s Market represents hard. We interview both the founders of Hangaburs and THE Sara of Sara’s Market. We are back! Enjoy!”

2. High & Hungry (Gochu Gang) Jun 30, 2022
Ezone says: “Gochu Gang is not only Korean BBQ to go but GREAT Korean BBQ to go and we were fortunate to try it. Loved it, did we. We also got to interview the brains behind the operation as to what got them to do what they do. Natural ingredients, very generous servings, what more do you want? Enjoy.”

3. High & Hungry (Quarantine Pizza) Jul 7, 2022
Ezone says: “A lovely couple decides to make their cooking into a profit and they decided on pizza. Pizza made with all-natural ingredients impaled into a small, portable oven. They put a twist on our favorite specialties, such as adding smoked barbecued pork with pineapple slices on top dough that looks like blue maiz that would be made for tortillas. And let’s not forget al pastor with ingredients you’d see on a taco. All shot on location at the Eagle Rock Brewery. Beer and delicious pizza, what can go wrong? Enjoy.”

4. High & Hungry (Torta Movil) Jul 14, 2022
Ezone says: “Torta Movil operates out of a SMALL truck inside the parking lot of a local carniceria in Los Angeles. Out that location they make some of BIGGEST and heartiet tortas estilo Mexico DF. There’s so much to choose from, selections made by the mom & pop operation will make you come for more. Enjoy.”

5. High & Hungry (For the Win)
Ezone says: “Not the last the burger to enjoy in Hollywood but definitely probably the best. For the Win burgers, simple ingredients with amazing results. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, patty melts, the small essentials. They started as a pop up and now they have over two locations in So Cal. Eitan joins E-Zone and DJ -Minus for this burger affair. And special guest OG, Eitan’s dog Enjoy.”
