According to the US Treasury, the national debt has reached an all time high, sitting at $31.1 Trillion. The outstanding debt has climbed nearly $8 trillion since the beginning of 2020 since the government went on a borrowing spree during the COVID 19 pandemic.
To put this in perspective our debt is so much that when you break it down it amounts to $236,000 per household or $93,000 per person in America.
Treasury Department data showed that the debt was $10.6 trillion when former President Barack Obama took office on January 20, 2009; $19.9 trillion when former President Donald Trump took office on January 20, 2017; and $27.8 trillion when Biden took office on January 20, 2021.
