Speaking of Nicki Minaj, the queen of rap not only hosted the event but also performed a new song from her upcoming album, “Pink Friday 2.” She was in good company, with performances from Doja Cat, who recently topped the Billboard charts, and other leading women in rap.

But let’s talk about the awards. Taylor Swift was the star of the night, bagging awards for Best Pop, Song of the Year, Best Direction, and Video of the Year. The K-pop sensation Stray Kids also had a moment, winning the Best K-pop award, which they found hard to believe.

Now, let’s get into the Hip-Hop culture aspect. The VMAs celebrated the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop with a performance featuring some of the industry’s biggest names. And guess who took home the Global Icon Award? None other than Diddy, who also gave a performance that was nothing short of spectacular.

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Doug E. Fresh, LL Cool J and DMC performed an epic hip-hop medley of  “The Message,” “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” “Mama Said Knock You Out” and abunch more classics. Each of them performing seperatley was a once in a lifetime event. The MTV VMAs really came to show out this year!

Shakira, the recipient of the Video Vanguard Award, gave a career-spanning performance that included an on-stage shower and crowd surfing. Talk about Entertainment News! She thanked her fans, her “army,” for helping her fight all her battles over the years.

In a surprising twist, ‘N Sync reunited on stage for the first time in 10 years to present Taylor Swift with her first award of the night. The moment was so unexpected it even took Taylor Swift by surprise.

To sum it up, the 2023 VMAs were a celebration of music, with a special emphasis on Hip-Hop culture. From the awards to the performances, it was a night that showcased the best in the industry.
