MAN TRIES TO BLAME DUI ON HIS DOG
In a bizarre and futile attempt to evade DUI charges, a man in Springfield, Colorado, allegedly resorted to putting his dog behind the wheel of the car he was driving. The Springfield Police Department shared the unusual incident on their Facebook page, explaining that the suspect was pulled over for speeding in a residential area. As the police officer approached, the driver tried to switch places with his canine companion, but the officer witnessed the entire charade. The suspect then exited the vehicle through the passenger side, claiming he wasn’t driving, despite displaying clear signs of intoxication. When questioned about his alcohol consumption, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended within a short distance from the car.
Authorities, who did not disclose the suspect’s identity in their Facebook post, revealed that he had two active arrest warrants from Pueblo, Colorado. In addition to the DUI charge, the suspect now faces charges of speeding, resisting arrest, and driving under suspension. The incident serves as a reminder that attempting to deceive law enforcement officers during traffic stops not only compounds the legal consequences but can also endanger oneself and others on the road.
