Museum in England hands out crayons to children who color all over 230 year old sculptures.

A lot of museums are using new tactics to promote ticket sales and attract visitors, but not all of them are succeeding. A museum in England hands out crayons to guests. This new promotion quickly took a turn for the worse when children color all over 230 year old sculptures with bright blue Crayola.

One such expert is Dr. Maria Gomez, who works at the Los Angeles Art Therapy Center. “It’s important to remember that this behavior is not malicious or intentional. It’s usually a result of feeling overwhelmed and needing an outlet to express themselves.”

Dr. Gomez recommends a few strategies that families can take to help address this behavior. She suggests redirecting the child’s energy into a more constructive activity, such as coloring in a book or playing with clay. She also believes that it’s important to have conversations with the children about why this behavior is not acceptable.

Though it can be difficult to manage, these art therapy experts believe that with the right guidance and support, children can learn to express themselves in more appropriate ways.

Here are some promotional tactics used at a few Museums in the Los Angeles area:

The California Science Center recently introduced a new tiered pricing system that allows visitors to pay more for special access to exhibits and events. While some visitors have been pleased with the added value, others have been less than thrilled with the additional fees.

The Getty Museum has also started offering free admission on the third Thursday of each month, drawing a large crowd of visitors. However, the museum has had to limit the number of people who can enter at once, creating long lines and wait times for eager guests.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has begun offering discounted tickets on Tuesdays. The tickets are sold online and at the door, and the discounts can be quite substantial. The museum has seen a spike in visitors, but it has also had to turn away people who didn’t plan ahead.

From tiered pricing to discounted tickets, museums are trying new tactics to boost ticket sales and attract visitors. While some of these strategies have been successful, others have not been so well-received, showing that even the most creative strategies may not always hit the mark.
