Kobe IV Protro “Mambacita” honoring Gianna “Gigi” Bryant

Today marks what would have been the 17th birthday of Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, the beloved daughter of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa. In honor of Gigi, Nike has released a special edition of the Kobe IV Protro sneaker, aptly named “Mambacita”.

The special edition sneaker features a white upper with a black Swoosh. The shoe is embroidered with Gigi’s initials and jersey number, “2”, and the phrase “Mambacita”, a nod to her father’s nickname, “The Black Mamba”.

The shoe’s release comes as a fitting tribute to Gigi, who was an accomplished basketball player in her own right and was seen as a rising star in the sport before her untimely passing in January of 2020.
